Trailer Safety Chain (13mm)

Trailer safety chains are required for all trailers regardless of whether they are fitted with an Emergency Brake System or Electric Breakaway Brakes . Chain complies with AS/NZ 4177.4 with CTA* approval number CTA-061230.
Suggested Fitment*
- Single 13mm chain required for trailers with ATM* of up to 2,500KG
- Two 13mm chains required for trailers with ATM over 2,500KG but not exceeding 3,500Kg
Standards
Trailers not exceeding 2,500Kg ATM*
- Trailer must be fitted with at least one safety chain.
- The chain must comply with Australian Standard AS4177.4-2004 Caravan and light trailer towing components – Safety Chains up to 3.500kg capacity,
Trailers over 2,500Kg ATM but not exceeding 3,500kg ATM*
- Trailer must be fitted with two safety chains.
- The chain must comply with Australian Standard AS4177.4-2004 Caravan and light trailer towing components – Safety Chains up to 3.500kg capacity,
Trailers exceeding 3,500Kg ATM*
- Trailer must be fitted with two safety chains.
- The chains must be made from steel of a minimum 800 Mpa breaking stress that conforms to the mechanical properties of Grade T chain as specified in Australian Standard AS2321-2001 Short-link chain for lifting purposes.
- Each chain must have a minimum breaking load greater than the trailer ATM, and use a 6mm chain size with a minimum breaking load of 5,100kg.
* CTA approved has a Component Type Approval number required by the ROVER system for chains and connectors in Australia.
* ATM ( Aggregate Trailer Mass ) is the combined weight of the trailer (tare weight) and the maximum trailer load (payload).
