Carlie Doidge – Sales Executive
After starting out as a junior sales consultant with Collier & Miller in late 2020, Carlie is now a Sales Executive, specializing in Safety & Hygiene products. Recognized as a finalist Riverina Trainee of the Year in 2022, Carlie completed her Certificate II in Retail while working at Collier & Miller and is now completing her Certificate III.
What is role at Collier & Miller and what does it involve?
I am a Sales Executive in our trade department, specializing in Safety & Hygiene. My role involves providing customers with knowledge and product advice. I also do a lot of work with our brand representatives, looking at new products and undergoing training so I can give the best advice to our customers – and teach my colleagues about new products too.
How has your role evolved since joining Collier & Miller?
I started out as a junior sales consultant in the trade department. I spent 12 months working across the whole department, getting to know the different products and build my trade knowledge. After that I took on a more focused role, which has enabled me to deepen my product knowledge.
How have you found managing work and study commitments?
Everyone has been super supportive and happy to help. The team is always checking in on me and is super flexible to help you manage the study with work commitments. We have two hours of dedicated study time per week, where we work in a dedicated space away from the shop floor, so we can focus and study properly.
You were recently recognised as a finalist for Riverina Trainee of the Year. How was that?
It was really exciting and a great experience, to have the team behind me and encouraging me through the process.
What do you enjoy most about working at C&M?
We’ve got a great team environment. It’s really close-knit and everyone is happy to support each other. It’s a great place to come to every day.
Piece of advice to others considering a similar role?
Self-management is important. At Collier & Miller we are given a lot of trust and respect to get the job done so you need to be quite self-disciplined.
Is there a particular position or career you are working towards?
There is a lot of room for me to still grow in this role. Eventually I’d like to move into a team leader role – I love supporting others.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I love bushwalking and spending time with my two very energetic Kelpies!
