Expert Maintenance Review
When replacing a damaged profile yoke, inspect the complete PTO shaft rather than treating the yoke as an isolated component. Check the universal-joint cross kit, bearing caps, retaining components, telescoping tubes and safety guarding for wear, distortion or cracking. The sliding profiles should move freely without excessive rotational movement or binding.
A worn cross kit or distorted tube can place additional load on the replacement yoke and may cause premature failure. Replace any related components that fall outside the manufacturer’s service limits.
Installation Tip
Before beginning work, shut down the tractor and implement, remove the ignition key and ensure the driveline cannot rotate. Confirm the orientation of the original yoke before removing it and use the correct workshop equipment when installing the universal-joint bearing caps.
After assembly, check that all retaining components are fully seated, the joint articulates smoothly and the telescoping shaft slides correctly. Refit all PTO guards and shields before operating the machine. Never operate a PTO driveline with damaged, missing or incorrectly fitted guarding.
